Private Piano Lessons with Dr. Arsen Gulua

Dr. Gulua will be scheduling Master Lessons for students of all ages who play at an early intermediate to advanced level.

Students do NOT need to have participated in the competition to be able to sign up for a lesson.

Dr. Gulua holds degrees from The Juilliard School, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and the University of Oregon. He began studying piano at the Kharkiv Music School in his native Kharkiv, Ukraine.

He has received numerous awards and has performed throughout the United States. He currently teaches at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.


  • Students should be playing at a level of Sonatina, Opus 36 No 1 by Clementi.
  • Memory is not required, but an extra copy of the music for Dr. Gulua will be required:
    • Public Domain music may be copied.
      • Public domain music are songs and tracks that are not protected by copyright and can be used without permission or payment. As of January 2022, music from 1926 and earlier is available in the public domain.
    • Copyrighted music that has been copied may be rejected, and student will forfeit the private lesson.
  • No jazz, new age, free improvisation, or pop music of any kind is acceptable.
  • “Prepared” piano music is not acceptable.
  • No student compositions may be entered.
  • Original music must be provided; no photocopies; public domain music will be allowed with proof of origin.
  • Lessons are PRIVATE and not open to the public.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes before the time of your lesson.
  • Email confirmations will be sent to all students once registration and payment is complete.
  • Lesson times are first-come, first-served.
  • You may select a preference for early-afternoon or late-afternoon (before or after 3:00pm).
